A sloppy throw-in by Primitivo Andino in the 14th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Wolverhampton's 夏天 Naae. 16 minutes into the match, Wolverhampton's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Thomas Runeberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thomas Runeberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sotiris Koupepes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Runeberg having to interfere. In the 39th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. Thomas Runeberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sotiris Koupepes's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Thomas Runeberg made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Wolverhampton's Allan Burmeister managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Primitivo Andino in the 57 minute of the game. 60 minutes into the match, Wolverhampton's Edmund Almkvist sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 60 minutes into the match, Edmund Almkvist notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Wolverhampton getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Åke Söderqwist hit a great ball. Thomas Runeberg made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After 83 played minutes Wolverhampton got a freekick which was hit by Allan Burmeister. Thomas Runeberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 86th minute. Åke Söderqwist kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Wolverhampton players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
