Nilmar Brasil came out of the goal and Rogelio Lynch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Augusto Alves might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nilmar Brasil. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Augusto Alves ran back to his position shaking his head. Nilmar Brasil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Augusto Alves in the 6th minute of play. Pedro Augusto Alves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilmar Brasil having to interfere. In the 13th minute Rogelio Lynch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilmar Brasil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner ended in Wang Ting Hong almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Clapham Rovers's Nilmar Brasil did a great save. 18 minutes into the match, Clapham Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Augusto Alves came free, but Nilmar Brasil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44thth minute of the game Cléberson Mendonça who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Internazionale-RS's Stefan Neubrandt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The referee gave Internazionale-RS a penalty, 66 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Rogelio Lynch, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Clapham Rovers's Nilmar Brasil. 0-2.
