In the 26thth minute of the game Dolf Schoonderwoerd who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Ouagadougou National's Rene Vereijt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hamza Yavaş in the 30th minute of play forced The Underdogs's goalkeeper Jan Wessel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, William Westelinx managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Ouagadougou National's supporters rose to their feet, but William Westelinx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
