With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Richard Edström sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Richard Edström in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Tomas Illescas took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paredes Goiano. Paredes Goiano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Richard Edström's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the game, Manchester City's Ulf Tingelholm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Edström in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Manchester City were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

54 minutes into the match, Manchester City's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Paredes Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute Richard Edström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Paredes Goiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Edström in the 58th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Manchester City fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Manchester City's Richard Edström looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Richard Edström got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 1-5. In the 67th match minute, Manchester City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Malte Göransson to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Manchester City's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. Vilhelm Nordmark thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Paredes Goiano, a very annoying self made goal in the 73rd minute which led to 2-5. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester City's goalkeeper Paredes Goiano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 78 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Richard Edström came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Edström in the 80th minute of the match. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paredes Goiano having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 87th minute of play forced Manchester City's goalkeeper Paredes Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Ulf Tingelholm kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Paredes Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 96th minute of play. Manchester City played a much better game than Venezuela and deserved their victory. The Venezuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
