The referee ignored Andrashida's protests and gave August Hääger a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Andrashida was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Máté Vámosi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Andino took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aydemir Okyar. Aydemir Okyar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aydemir Okyar saved Andrashida from getting behind. Daniel Zorita got in the 13th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Aydemir Okyar handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Andrashida's Aydemir Okyar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play. Aydemir Okyar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrashida's Andrzej Juskowiak got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrzej Juskowiak, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Andrashida's Torsten Alin got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aydemir Okyar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of the match. After 45 minutes Andrashida's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montenegro to fire away a dangerous shot which Aydemir Okyar despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A throw-in in the 96th minute of the game was made by Camilo Gisbert with Luis Andino as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Máté Vámosi hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Ecuador played a much better game than Andrashida and deserved their victory. The Andrashida players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
