In the 5th minute, one of Eleven Nation Army:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Eleven Nation Army. In the 6th minute there was a penalty for Mexico. Joel Gaona stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Qian Xing Wei. 1-0. In the 13th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Eleven Nation Army's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Mexico's Joel Gaona to fire away a dangerous shot which Qian Xing Wei despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Alberto Tafalla slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Qian Xing Wei. That made the score 2-0 after 15 minutes of play. Lautaro Mancebo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Qian Xing Wei having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexander Vedholm in the 19th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Tafalla to maneuver through the defense. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Åke Ekelund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Qian Xing Wei threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luca Zorita, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Qian Xing Wei made a huge save. In the 32nd minute, Joel Gaona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Qian Xing Wei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 34th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Eleven Nation Army's goalkeeper Qian Xing Wei had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Åke Ekelund, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 56 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 58 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Qian Xing Wei was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lautaro Mancebo hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Helge Brun sent off a good shot on target. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Alberto Tafalla sped through Eleven Nation Army's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Qian Xing Wei. Eleven Nation Army's Qian Xing Wei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 71st minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 81th minute after Eleven Nation Army's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Qian Xing Wei didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lautaro Mancebo went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. 87 minutes into the match, Eleven Nation Army's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Qian Xing Wei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Eleven Nation Army's Qian Xing Wei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 91st minute of play. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Qian Xing Wei came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Felix Luque. But to his dismay, Felix Luque quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0.
