With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victor Piţurcă in the 24th managed to get into a good position. Victor Piţurcă might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hurşit Cemşit hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 39th minute of play forced Emerald's goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Camilo Franco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bogdan Lobonț read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Camilo Franco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bogdan Lobonț. Emerald's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Camilo Franco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

A collision led to Emerald getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Victor Piţurcă hit a great ball. Gabriel Vermeşan hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. The tension between the Uruguay and the Emerald players grew even worse after the yellow card. 62 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Piţurcă came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bogdan Lobonț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 76th minute Victor Piţurcă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emerald's attentive Jaime Carioca managed to snatch the ball when Jorge Sainz made a throw-in in the 79th minute of the game. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Francisco Seco ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew the final whistle, Emerald could leave the field as winners, despite Uruguay having more of the ball for most of the match.
