The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 4th minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Patricio Ugutz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patricio Ugutz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 5th minute of the match. In the 16th minute Barcellos Mineiro FC were awarded a corner. Amílton Loyola went to the cornerflag to take it. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Dale Dolar sent off a good shot on target. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mexico's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Amílton Loyola was slow to take the kick. During this time Barcellos Mineiro FC's players had a chance to rest. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Patricio Ugutz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of play. Clóvis Vieira hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 29th match minute, Barcellos Mineiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo Veloso to maneuver through the defense. Leonardo Leoz made in the 33rd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Lautaro Mancebo however managed to control. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Dale Dolar sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 37th minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Patricio Ugutz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Amerigo Gervasi came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Barcellos Mineiro FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amerigo Gervasi couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute, Tião Paraíba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute of the game Leonardo Leoz made a throw-in which Lautaro Mancebo played forward. Leonardo Leoz kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dale Dolar made a kick off. With a little luck, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Patricio Ugutz got control of the ball when Facundo Cadaval tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Barcellos Mineiro FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Barcellos Mineiro FC's Patricio Ugutz did a great save. Patricio Ugutz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 54th minute of play. Alberto Tafalla was extremely unlucky when he, in the 61st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Patricio Ugutz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 64th minute. In the 79thth minute of the game Joel Gaona who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barcellos Mineiro FC's Patricio Ugutz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 81 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Carrascal came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Tafalla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patricio Ugutz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Mexico booed when Barcellos Mineiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patricio Ugutz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Barcellos Mineiro FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Mexico had controlled the match.
