The referee showed Justo Ranolfo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 10 minutes into the match, Isidoro Sarmiento notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Deportivo de Coba's Tomás Pepillo. Tomás Pepillo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Norberto Giro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. Tomás Pepillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 14th minute of the match. Jose Carita kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Florentino Dominixs short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Marcos Cotilla to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of Deportivo de Coba booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Carita didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Panama's Abraham Alguacil got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 27th minute Florentino Dominix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domingo Teodor hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 42nd minute, Justo Ranolfo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 46 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Jose Carita. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florentino Dominix in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Florentino Dominix stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Florentino Dominix blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcos Cotilla having to make a save. Tomás Pepillo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 59th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Deportivo de Coba's goalkeeper Tomás Pepillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abraham Alguacil. In the 61st match minute, Deportivo de Coba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vicente Guerau to maneuver through the defense. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Deportivo de Coba's goalkeeper Tomás Pepillo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 70th minute Florentino Dominix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Florentino Dominix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Cotilla having to interfere. Isidoro Sarmiento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Tomás Pepillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee ignored Deportivo de Coba's protests and gave Herminio Nalo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute, Herminio Nalo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the match, Deportivo de Coba's goalkeeper Tomás Pepillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abraham Alguacil. In the 86th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tomás Pepillo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 94th minute of play forced Deportivo de Coba's goalkeeper Tomás Pepillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 95 played minutes Deportivo de Coba got a freekick which was hit by Florentino Dominix. If Abraham Alguacil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Panama played a much better game than Deportivo de Coba and deserved their victory. The Deportivo de Coba players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
