Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremias Moreno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind ADM Taquaras's goalkeeper Jeremias Moreno, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Denílson Tepedino went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Peru's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Oliver Bierhoff scored to the left of an out of position Rolando Noboa, making the score, 2-1. A sloppy throw-in by Cléber Palmeira in the 28th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 30 minutes into the match, ADM Taquaras's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Jeremias Moreno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in ADM Taquaras's zone, Luz Tejedor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremias Moreno came out of the goal and Luz Tejedor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Oliver Bierhoff sent off a good shot on target. In the 38th minute, Daniel de Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeremias Moreno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Tepedino in the 41st minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Oliver Bierhoff made the kick off in the second half. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, ADM Taquaras's Cléber Palmeira got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th match minute, ADM Taquaras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miki Moco to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oliver Bierhoff in the 68th minute of the match. Cléber Palmeira made in the 71st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Milagros Fraga. Jeremias Moreno made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 75th minute. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denílson Tepedino in the 76th minute of the match. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oliver Bierhoff in the 87th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 88th minute by Eliseo Mina got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo.
