Cassiano Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 32nd minute of the match. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute, Telmo Teves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. GD Fiães's Cassiano Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 44th minute of play.

Thanks to some nice moves Cristian Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Cassiano Mendonça however easily saved by the left post. In the 61st minute, Telmo Teves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. GD Fiães made a substitution. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cassiano Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind GD Fiães's goalkeeper Cassiano Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GD Fiães.
