The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Quimeras Jrs.'s Conrado Txurio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 7 minutes into the match, Quimeras Jrs.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Conrado Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Conrado Txurio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. After 13 played minutes Quimeras Jrs. got a freekick which was hit by Segundo Kusko. In the 17th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Conrado Txurio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 18th minute of play forced Quimeras Jrs.'s goalkeeper Conrado Txurio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Conrado Txurio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Patricio Costa scored 0-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Conrado Txurio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Ruperto Hermon fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quimeras Jrs.'s protests and gave Ruperto Hermon a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Quimeras Jrs. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruperto Hermon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Conrado Txurio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jose Correa in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute of the game Rodolfo Confesor made a throw-in which Ruperto Hermon played forward. Guillermo Mariano charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guillermo Mariano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Conrado Txurio having to make a save. 45 minutes into the match, Quimeras Jrs.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Conrado Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Conrado Txurio made a huge save. Conrado Txurio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 55th minute of play. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. After 58 played minutes, Venezuela's Joshua Secada shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Conrado Txurio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Venezuela reached it. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 74 minutes into the match, Quimeras Jrs.'s goalkeeper Conrado Txurio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruperto Hermon in the 78th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Conrado Txurio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. Tomas Illescas didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 0-3 via right post in the game's 88th minute. Venezuela's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Conrado Txurio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
