Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without René Higuita having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Krzysztof Jaraczewski got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 30 minutes, Octávio Valentim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Seleção de Macau and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st match minute, Seleção de Macau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octávio Valentim to maneuver through the defense. Seleção de Macau's René Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 36th minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. René Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 43rd minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that René Higuita narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 58 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mina. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Alex Chicote hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Sousa in the 70th minute of play. In the 70th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Santiago Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Seleção de Macau's Octávio Valentim got a free kick in the 73rd minute. When Santiago Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Seleção de Macau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santiago Sousa couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Modesto, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. René Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Seleção de Macau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Krzysztof Jaraczewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Seleção de Macau walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
