After 17 played minutes Trapiche got a freekick which was hit by Fredo Herzog. Trapiche's Feliciano Porfiro suffered a concussion in the 18th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 19th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Modestio, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Federico Fe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Federico Fe having to interfere. Federico Fe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of the match. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Trapiche's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Federico Fe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of play. In the 36th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Cristian Sancho was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Federico Fe saved Trapiche from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Trapiche's Fredo Herzog got a free kick in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of Ecuador booed when Trapiche was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albino Remir didn't get a good kick on the ball. Trapiche's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Cristian Sancho scored to the left of an out of position Federico Fe, making the score, 0-1. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Trapiche's goalkeeper Federico Fe, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Federico Fe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Federico Fe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Federico Fe made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Leonard Radziszewski's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonard Radziszewski helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th minute Trapiche were awarded a corner. Albino Remir went to the cornerflag to take it. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Federico Fe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. A collision led to Trapiche getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Saverio Osasun hit a great ball. With a little luck, Trapiche's Federico Fe got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 88th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The Trapiche fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
