After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victor Vulpăşin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes into the match, Real Còrdoba FC's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Victor Vulpăşin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anibal Cordeiro in the 31st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Andino got a throw-in 34 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Cristian Sancho. In the 38th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Vulpăşin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anibal Cordeiro in the 41st minute of the match. After having played for 45 minutes, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustín Saelices was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvio Errolan got free with Julio Vera in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. 최 명 was the one to do the kick off. Victor Vulpăşin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victor Vulpăşin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Montenegro went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Victor Vulpăşin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Vulpăşin having to interfere. 85 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Victor Vulpăşin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 91st minute. 95 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when 최 명 came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
