Nils Elmhuus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remigiusz Gabis in the 10th minute of play. After some careless play in the Red Army defense, Felix Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nils Elmhuus. The Red Army fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nils Elmhuus should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play forced Red Army's goalkeeper Nils Elmhuus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Remigiusz Gabis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Red Army's Mahbod Nikbakht-Vahedi got a free kick in the 92nd minute. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Red Army's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Red Army were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
