The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Joe Camp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 5th minute of play. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 17 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Joe Camp was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Emmanuel got free with Julio Vera in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 20 minutes into the game, Cats and dogs's Felix Emmanuel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 23rd minute Nicolas Hamard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 25 minutes of play, Cats and dogs's Nicolas Hamard made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! 29 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Hamard came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Joe Camp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felix Emmanuel might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Emmanuel ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 37 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 47 minutes, Nicolas Hamard managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cats and dogs's Joe Camp proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Cats and dogs from getting a goal against them. Egoitz Lagunas hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Joe Camp in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cats and dogs's Nicolas Hamard got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cats and dogs's Gaétan Bouchard was substituted for Felix Emmanuel. In the 68th minute, Nicolas Hamard left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cats and dogs fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Joe Camp made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 91st minute Egoitz Lagunas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Cats and dogs's Nicolas Hamard got a free kick in the 92nd minute. When Gaétan Bouchard came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Cats and dogs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaétan Bouchard couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolas Hamard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
