Jaime Cazalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Caracciolo having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kjell Pihl to make the kick off. Kjell Pihl hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kjell Pihl in the 66th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kjell Pihl in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. In the 89th minute, Kjell Pihl made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kjell Pihl's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute.
