Orlando Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anis Achour breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Symba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gus Wootton didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd match minute, Symba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomás San Juan to maneuver through the defense. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anis Achour having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anis Achour narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sílvio Veiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tacettin Umay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás San Juan, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 62nd minute, Tomás San Juan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Symba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After having played for 71 minutes, Tomás San Juan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Symba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomás San Juan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Saelices got free with Anis Achour in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Anis Achour made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 79th minute. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by Symba's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita has a good long shot, which he once again showed in the 82nd minute of the match. Unfortunately the ball hit the outside of the left post. After 83 minutes, Gus Wootton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Symba and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 83 played minutes Symba got a freekick which was hit by Gus Wootton. In the 86th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Anis Achour was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 89th minute Tacettin Umay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Symba's Tomás San Juan got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Symba were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
