F.C. Sant Sabo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 16 played minutes F.C. Sant Sabo got a freekick which was hit by Raúl Dagora. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play forced F.C. Sant Sabo's goalkeeper Colon Manrique to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C. Sant Sabo's goalkeeper Colon Manrique, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 40th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roberto Mata stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Colon Manrique made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Melquiades Lizar in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Horst Hussen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Colon Manrique was relentless in the 81st minute of the game.
