The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cornelio Cordearo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 3rd minute of play. Cornelio Cordearo came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 14 minutes into the game, Cayetano Quinito threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Alonso Berganza quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Luciano Pirro hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. When Racing Club's Luciano Pirro in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Peru's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Luciano Pirro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. In the 21stth minute of the game Luciano Pirro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 22nd minute of play. Peru were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Racing Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. Peru's Luz Tejedor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cornelio Cordearo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 28th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Cornelio Cordearo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Cornelio Cordearo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 37th minute. Lucas Eladio made in the 44th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Homer Field immediately put the ball in play. After having played for 45 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Luciano Pirro made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Peru's Julian Murillo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cornelio Cordearo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lucas Eladio in the 54 minute of the game. Cornelio Cordearo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 55th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Homer Field came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 61st play minutes Luciano Pirro shot 1-3, a short shot which went by Rolando Noboa and just under the crossbar into goal. Racing Club's Samuel Nevada was substituted for Miroslaw Jajecznica. A sloppy throw-in by Lucas Eladio in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Club from getting a goal against them. Cornelio Cordearo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the game, Lucas Eladio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Rolando Noboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 76 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Nevada came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Cornelio Cordearo made a huge save. Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Racing Club's goalkeeper Cornelio Cordearo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cornelio Cordearo made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cornelio Cordearo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Epifanio Txomin, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
