The audience thought a goal was coming when Pascual Lamberto got free with Julio Vera in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Felix Montes made in the 9th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Daniel Zorita immediately put the ball in play. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th match minute, C. S. Peron y Belgrano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Milito to maneuver through the defense. Korneliusz Mruk hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the match, C. S. Peron y Belgrano's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Waldir Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner led to Ecuador's Agustín Saelices getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After 26 minutes, Gabriel Milito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C. S. Peron y Belgrano and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 27 played minutes C. S. Peron y Belgrano got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Milito. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Waldir Araújo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. C. S. Peron y Belgrano's Waldir Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 31st minute of play. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Pascual Lamberto sent off a good shot on target. In the 37th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pascual Lamberto got free with Julio Vera in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Peron y Belgrano's goalkeeper Waldir Araújo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. C. S. Peron y Belgrano's Waldir Araújo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save C. S. Peron y Belgrano from getting a goal against them. In the 67th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. C. S. Peron y Belgrano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 70th minute, C. S. Peron y Belgrano's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cristian Sancho fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After having played for 76 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 77 played minutes Ecuador's Daniel Zorita stole the ball from his opponents and shot the ball towards the upper left corner, but Waldir Araújo stretched himself as far as he could, and stopped the ball from passing the line. robbing C. Peron y Belgrano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Quin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute Pascual Lamberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. C. S. Peron y Belgrano succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
