Hector Covarrubias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benigno Gabrio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Hector Covarrubias took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benigno Gabrio. Benigno Gabrio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. 22 minutes in the game Jose Sanz did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Hector Covarrubias. 24 minutes into the match, Centeno's goalkeeper Benigno Gabrio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hector Covarrubias. In the 26th minute, Jaime Pardo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benigno Gabrio. The goal made the score 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Paraguay's Jaime Pardo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benigno Gabrio. That made the score 5-0 after 29 minutes of play. Centeno's Benigno Gabrio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Centeno's zone, Primitivo Escribano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benigno Gabrio came out of the goal and Primitivo Escribano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 35 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Centeno's Benigno Gabrio. Benigno Gabrio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ivan Prats hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Primitivo Escribano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hector Covarrubias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Centeno's goalkeeper Benigno Gabrio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Pardo. Hector Covarrubias took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benigno Gabrio. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 7-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Jaime Pardo made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Pardo in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benigno Gabrio saved Centeno from getting behind. Benigno Gabrio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Primitivo Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Benigno Gabrio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Primitivo Escribano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Pardo in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benigno Gabrio saved Centeno from getting behind. Juan Diego Tenorio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benigno Gabrio having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Paraguay fully deserved thier win.
