Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Daniel Zorita kicked off to start the match. Independiente's Pepe Santoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 5th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pepe Santoro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pepe Santoro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Mateo Mendez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Pepe Santoro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After 33 minutes, Isidoro Beltran made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 36th minute, Felipe Roldan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Mateo Mendez tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Independiente's Pepe Santoro did a great save. In the 70th match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Øssur í Lon Jacobsen to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pepe Santoro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albano Bertol in the 75th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Pepe Santoro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pepe Santoro quite easily take care of the ball. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
