After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 6th minute. Isidoro Beltran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Isidoro Beltran sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Jorg Pieters's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Score! 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Jorg Pieters made the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Independiente's Jorg Pieters made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 89th minute of the match Independiente got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Florentino Inge ran over to the corner to take the kick. Independiente's Florentino Inge was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Jorg Pieters. But to his dismay, Jorg Pieters quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 95th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 96th minute Mateo Mendez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Independiente had played much better football throughout.
