Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Julian Murillo started the match with the kick off. Los Delfines's Matías Patrone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 13th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 23rd minute of play forced Los Delfines's goalkeeper Matías Patrone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Los Delfines's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Matías Patrone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Atilano Quinten got free with Rolando Noboa in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Peru booed when Los Delfines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Honorio Eder didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Anthony Alvarado hit a great ball. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arquímedes Cesario in the 39th minute of play. Arquímedes Cesario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Atilano Quinten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. Los Delfines's Matías Patrone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 46th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Atilano Quinten made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 54th minute of play forced Los Delfines's goalkeeper Matías Patrone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Luis Brown hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Atilano Quinten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matías Patrone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Los Delfines's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Matías Patrone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matías Patrone read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. In the 76th minute, José Luis Brown hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Los Delfines made a substitution. Ambrosio Bartolome replaced Tomáš Kožený. Rolando Noboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. The throw-in from Milagros Fraga in the 93rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Los Delfines's Oscar Orzaize. The audience was convinced that Oliver Bierhoff's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Los Delfines fans cheered their team off the field, for while Peru had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
