Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 28th minute. A nice corner shot did that Tomas Illescas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Leon Kosmatka quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Camilo Gaos hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After 31 minutes, Jonathan Venegas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the INTER FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. 38 minutes into the game, one of INTER FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. INTER FC:s Leon Kosmatka showed great skill when he stopped Tomas Illescas:s penalty. Leon Kosmatka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. A collision led to INTER FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Marcelo Valverde hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 54 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mina. Marco Seco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. INTER FC made a substitution. Mandi Oca replaced Emerson Cruz. INTER FC's Hortêncio Linhares was substituted for Marco Seco. In the 63rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guillermo Mariano to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Hortêncio Linhares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Venezuela booed when INTER FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A throw-in in the 75th minute of the game was made by Bruno Alves with Hortêncio Linhares as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mandi Oca showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 76 minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, INTER FC's Hortêncio Linhares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leon Kosmatka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was Léo Trigo who took care of the corner kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. INTER FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
