The supporters of Costa Rica booed when ÇALIMLI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zülfü Dicle didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eliseo Noboa in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Birkan Yağın saved ÇALIMLI from getting behind. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barnabé Amice in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Barnabé Amice blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. Birkan Yağın didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Axel Tasis went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 32nd minute, Lautaro Puig ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Birkan Yağın was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 35th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doğan Zakir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Axel Tasis scored 0-3 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Birkan Yağın, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 47th minute, Doğan Zakir got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Barnabé Amice kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. ÇALIMLI's Enginalp İnanoğlu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 57th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Puig during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. Efrain Moruga made in the 63rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eliseo Noboa. Axel Tasis kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The ÇALIMLI manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Costa Rica to win.
