Fabinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Sebastián Puig in the 15th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after Jipa RO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 17th minute, İnanç İrem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Fabinho Prestes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 23rd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabinho Prestes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norbert Konopka in the 25th minute of play. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabinho Prestes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Norbert Konopka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jipa RO's Fabinho Prestes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 38th minute of play. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Norbert Konopka tried to sneak it across the goal line. 47 minutes into the game, Ramón Cardozo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jipa RO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A collision led to Jipa RO getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Júlio Koehler hit a great ball. Jipa RO's Fabinho Prestes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Jipa RO from getting a goal against them. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Jipa RO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After a rather tough play, Jipa RO's Júlio Koehler got a free kick in the 69th minute. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Norbert Konopka in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norbert Konopka in the 76th minute of play.
