Costa Rica's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stanko Dosholov in the 23rd minute of the match. Encho Mogilanski took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. When Eliseo Noboa fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Eliseo Noboa a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Хан Крум Страшни booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Stanko Dosholov made the kick off in the second half. Alexander Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. 53 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Stanko Dosholov came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
