In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Retorno de Palermo's goalkeeper Modesto Olentzaro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hilario Mikeldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Natalio Nabar managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Retorno de Palermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Natalio Nabar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Campos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Modesto Olentzaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ingars Miders in the 17th minute of play. Ingars Miders's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Modesto Olentzaro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 29th minute of the match Macaco F.C. got a corner. El Retorno de Palermo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hermínio Cavalcante ran over to the corner to take the kick. 30 minutes into the match, El Retorno de Palermo's goalkeeper Modesto Olentzaro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ingars Miders. Through an outstanding action, after 31 minutes, Modesto Olentzaro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by El Retorno de Palermo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hermínio Cavalcante was slow to take the kick. During this time Macaco F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Guaberto Rufio during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 35 played minutes El Retorno de Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Guaberto Rufio. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Ingars Miders put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Modesto Olentzaro. When Hilario Mikeldi fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Retorno de Palermo's protests and gave Hilario Mikeldi a yellow card for diving instead. Hilario Mikeldi kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ingars Miders to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, El Retorno de Palermo's Omar Canor got a free kick in the 54th minute. El Retorno de Palermo's Modesto Olentzaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ioan Mavrodin in the 56th minute of play. After 58 minutes El Retorno de Palermo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hermínio Cavalcante who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Yılmaz Candar managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ingars Miders in the 60th minute of play forced El Retorno de Palermo's goalkeeper Modesto Olentzaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hilario Mikeldi struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Jorge Campos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Retorno de Palermo. 69 minutes into the game, Ingars Miders cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Modesto Olentzaro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 72nd match minute, Macaco F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ioan Mavrodin to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Macaco F.C. booed when El Retorno de Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Claude didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermínio Cavalcante took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Modesto Olentzaro. El Retorno de Palermo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 76 minutes of play, Macaco F.C.'s Ingars Miders made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Modesto Olentzaro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Modesto Olentzaro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hermínio Cavalcante went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. In the 84th minute Ingars Miders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Modesto Olentzaro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute Macaco F.C. were awarded a corner. Hermínio Cavalcante went to the cornerflag to take it. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Ingars Miders sped through El Retorno de Palermo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Modesto Olentzaro. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Ingars Miders put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Modesto Olentzaro. 95 minutes in the game, Natalio Nabar fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Jorge Campos having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Carlos Penha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, El Retorno de Palermo's Esteban Panfilo tried to score from far away in the 97th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Macaco F.C. fans cheered their team off the field, for while El Retorno de Palermo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
