Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Luís Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Guimarães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Seco's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. The audience was convinced that Francisco Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Guimarães was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. 40 minutes into the game, Arturo Carvallo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Camboyanos the free kick. After 40 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Uruguay! The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francisco Seco was the one to do the kick off. Arturo Carvallo was shown his second yellow card after 53 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 53 minutes into the game, one of Uruguay:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 55th minute, Danilo Estefan made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Luís Guimarães made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 60th minute. In the 64th minute, Camboyanos's Juan Gar seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Juan Gar the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Camboyanos protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Juan Gar had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 63rd minute, one of Camboyanos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Camboyanos. Jaime Cazalla placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Genaro Pereyra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Camboyanos's Luís Guimarães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Camboyanos from getting a goal against them. Matthias Esbjörnsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matthias Esbjörnsson ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 86th minute, Genaro Pereyra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Francisco Seco's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Luís Guimarães firmly grabbed it by the left post. Luís Guimarães made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Camboyanos's Alfons Deckers got a free kick in the 89th minute. With a little luck, Camboyanos's Luís Guimarães got control of the ball when Maximiliano Escribano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Guimarães having to interfere. Camboyanos's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
