The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes of play, Chile's Mariano Lacasa made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aristeo Oquendo kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belmiro Peñaranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mónico Queirolo was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Mónico Queirolo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belmiro Peñaranda in the 30th minute of the match. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Orlando Casaus hit a great ball. Thiago Pliego made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Belmiro Peñaranda sent off a good shot on target. In the 35th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mónico Queirolo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led to Chile's Pedro Indiano getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After having played for 41 minutes, Guillermo Fontirroig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guillermo Fontirroig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Orlando Casaus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Xavier Figueroa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 46thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CRUZ DEL SUR's Mónico Queirolo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mónico Queirolo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The CRUZ DEL SUR players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chile were winning 0-2.

If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mónico Queirolo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute José Ignacio Berguecio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mónico Queirolo was a little too slow when Mariano Lacasa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 0-3. In the 59th minute Belmiro Peñaranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of CRUZ DEL SUR booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Indiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Mariano Lacasa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mónico Queirolo made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. In the 72nd minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mónico Queirolo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. 80 minutes in the game, Orlando Casaus fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Mónico Queirolo having to interfere. CRUZ DEL SUR's Mónico Queirolo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 86th minute of play. Mónico Queirolo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 91st minute. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belmiro Peñaranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The CRUZ DEL SUR fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Chile were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
