After 15 minutes, Ionel Zărnescu made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Hondo santillana didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Uruguay's Francisco Seco shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Jorge Sainz hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After 32 played minutes FCSB CUENCA got a freekick which was hit by Felix Zărnescu. Maximiliano Escribano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Toni Garrido hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hondo santillana having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiago Cuevas during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 41st match minute, FCSB CUENCA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiago Cuevas to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute Ionel Zărnescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 46 minutes, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. If Maximiliano Escribano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 52 minutes, Aitor Carceles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FCSB CUENCA and the Uruguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 52nd minute, Aitor Carceles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes into the game, Maximiliano Escribano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Hondo santillana was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 57 minutes, Felix Zărnescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FCSB CUENCA and the Uruguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. Francisco Seco took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hondo santillana. Hondo santillana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. After 62 minutes of play, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hondo santillana was left in no man's land by his defense there! When George Verdaguer fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FCSB CUENCA's protests and gave George Verdaguer a yellow card for diving instead. When Francisco Seco came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Seco couldn't finish the play. Francisco Seco struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Hondo santillana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Hondo santillana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francisco Seco in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hondo santillana saved FCSB CUENCA from getting behind. In the 77th minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hondo santillana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ionel Zărnescu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Joaquin Gayoso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 81st minute, Jorge Sainz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uruguay's attentive Alberto Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Felix Zărnescu made a throw-in in the 89th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francisco Seco in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hondo santillana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Uruguay booed when FCSB CUENCA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Cuevas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
