In the 8thth minute of the game Axel Tasis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but WBF's Isac Haström was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nils-Emil Holmstedt struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for WBF. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Per-Arne Möllgren took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. The supporters of WBF booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luckas Oliviers, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The audience was convinced that Luckas Oliviers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Puig's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Bjursell, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Isac Haström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Axel Tasis went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. WBF fully deserved thier win.
