Samuel Navarro was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 6 minutes into the match. In the 10th minute Aziz Mumtaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mostafa Malik was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Farid Ayham was out of position in the 57 minute of play, and Axel Montenegro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Axel Montenegro really showed his touch with that goal: 3-3. Farid Ayham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Axel Montenegro in the 61st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bakr Wade during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 66th match minute, Atletico Beirut was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bakr Wade to maneuver through the defense. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mostafa Malik in the 77th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Colombia's Abram Secada slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Farid Ayham. That made the score 3-4 after 78 minutes of play. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wakil Husam in the 86th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Florencio Harri's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Manzanares was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Abram Secada recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Abram Secada managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colombia's supporters rose to their feet, but Abram Secada was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Farid Ayham breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Colombia supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Colombia would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
