To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaj Hård in the 59th minute of play. After having played for 61 minutes, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Tafalla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 66 played minutes spikarna got a freekick which was hit by Niklas Söderberg. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 70th minute of play forced spikarna's goalkeeper Lars Norberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The spikarna players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
