An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 9th minute of play forced Sagarana Clube's goalkeeper Benedito Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Sagarana Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Benedito Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sagarana Clube's Serafim Barros got a free kick in the 43rd minute.

In the 56th minute, Julian Murillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benedito Trigo was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. In the 95th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedito Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sagarana Clube throughout the match.
