Åke Walmarsson scored 0-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 15th minute of play forced Ultra Boys's goalkeeper Mats Bruse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Bo-Erik Fagrell fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ultra Boys's protests and gave Bo-Erik Fagrell a yellow card for diving instead. Mats Bruse made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Lautaro Puig sent off a good shot on target. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Åke Walmarsson in the 25th minute of the match. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Mats Bruse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ultra Boys booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 40 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Åke Walmarsson sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. Bo-Erik Fagrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Ultra Boys were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Åke Walmarsson made the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernst Stenqvist in the 52nd minute of the match. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 60 minutes into the game, one of Costa Rica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 61st minute there was a penalty for Ultra Boys. Bo-Erik Fagrell stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benito Sanz. 0-4. In the 64th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Bruse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 66th minute Ernst Stenqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Noboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mats Bruse breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 87 minutes of play Costa Rica's Juan Rubio was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 88 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. The long shot by Bo-Erik Fagrell in the 89th minute really tested Benito Sanz's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Åke Walmarsson sent off a good shot on target. Ultra Boys's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
