Independiente's Cristobal Fox got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Travis Cassidy hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Maximiliano Escribano put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Cristobal Fox. When Weldon Morrow fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C. A. Independiente's protests and gave Weldon Morrow a yellow card for diving instead. Gerry Gipson made in the 24th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Reynaldo Ennis immediately put the ball in play. Maximiliano Escribano scored 2-0 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cristobal Fox, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Uruguay's Francisco Seco slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cristobal Fox. That made the score 3-0 after 31 minutes of play. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. Murray Farrar was shown his second yellow card after 50 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to C. A. Cristobal Fox tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gerry Gipson made in the 60th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Uruguay's Camilo Franco. 61 minutes into the game, Reynaldo Ennis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C. A. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguay the free kick. In the 61st match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reynaldo Ennis to maneuver through the defense.
