Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Bezerra in the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Musko Cuevas in the 30th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Schuster's goalkeeper Donato Ali had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Emmanuel Reyes kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. 44 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Musko Cuevas came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Schuster getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Flavio Miconi hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Rafael Gallo hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Donato Ali showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquin Prats, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Saul Piarres kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Schuster's Donato Ali played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafael Gallo in the 95th minute of play. Peru were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
