Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute. A nice corner shot did that Agustín Saelices got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wasyl Modrzewski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute of play forced Pirates of Black Sea's goalkeeper Wasyl Modrzewski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dong Xi Jun in the 20th minute of play. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 38 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Dong Xi Jun came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute Dong Xi Jun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off.
