When Jorginho Mazza came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Morro Grande E.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorginho Mazza couldn't finish the play. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Augusto Martins in the 12th minute of play. 16 minutes into the game, Morro Grande E.C's Ronaldo Lima nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Lautaro Puig scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Pedro Abraão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 28th minute. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho Meira in the 34th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Augusto Martins in the 35th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Puig during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 36th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Ronaldinho Meira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldinho Meira, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ronaldinho Meira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Ronaldo Lima sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Jorginho Mazza tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 63rd minute of the match Morro Grande E.C got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jorge Sá ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jorginho Mazza charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorginho Mazza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jorginho Mazza hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorginho Mazza went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Jorginho Mazza's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Benito Sanz firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ronaldo Lima could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Eliseo Noboa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 86 minutes, Alan Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Morro Grande E.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 86 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. After 87 played minutes, Morro Grande E.C's Jorge Sá shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Morro Grande E.C reached it. José Pedro Abraão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Morro Grande E.C's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
