An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 3rd minute of play forced Guansa's goalkeeper Esteban José Andrada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Aznar in the 5th minute of play. In the 7th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esteban José Andrada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Eloy Aznar came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esteban José Andrada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Esteban José Andrada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteban José Andrada having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Felix Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Aaron Sandalio made the kick off in the second half. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. When Cristian Sancho fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Cristian Sancho a yellow card for diving instead. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaron Sandalio in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th minute Aaron Sandalio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Esteban José Andrada breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antonio Arias during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 70th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Ildefonso Arixo managed to get in a good position for a shot. The referee showed Victoriano Dalmu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 81st match minute, Guansa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victoriano Dalmu to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Aaron Sandalio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Agustín Saelices during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 89th minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Guansa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victoriano Dalmu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 98th minute of the match Guansa got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ildefonso Arixo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Ildefonso Arixo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Ecuador played a much better game than Guansa and deserved their victory. The Guansa players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
