With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 20 minutes into the match, Severiano Enekoitz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Severiano Enekoitz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 25 minutes into the match, Lα Sυв 21's goalkeeper Ernesto Merexildo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Bartolome came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severiano Enekoitz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A nice corner shot did that Guido Bartolome got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Lα Sυв 21 booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ernesto Merexildo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After some careless play in the Lα Sυв 21 defense, Luis Andino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Merexildo. The Lα Sυв 21 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Merexildo should have stopped the shot. In the 55th minute Guido Bartolome shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Severiano Enekoitz's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Severiano Enekoitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ecuador's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Severiano Enekoitz 66 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-2. Lα Sυв 21's Fulgencio Bidari was substituted for Guido Bartolome. 71 minutes into the match, Lα Sυв 21's Pablo Vegetti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 73 minutes, Fulgencio Bidari managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lα Sυв 21's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fulgencio Bidari was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 80th minute, Pablo Vegetti made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Pablo Vegetti struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lα Sυв 21.
