After 26 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juanito Gabucio in the 28th minute. Coronel Ribas kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Agustín Saelices took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jesus Sayveon. Jesus Sayveon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 42nd minute of play. When Primitivo Andino fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Primitivo Andino a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. In the 47th match minute, Athletico Picapedrense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eloi Fontanella to maneuver through the defense. Athletico Picapedrense made a substitution. Orlondo Aguado replaced Reno Cartagena. Athletico Picapedrense made a substitution. Lorenzo Jubera replaced Zenon Klewinski.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Jesus Sayveon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 59th minute of the match, Agustín Saelices tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jesus Sayveon saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Eloi Fontanella came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Athletico Picapedrense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eloi Fontanella couldn't finish the play. Athletico Picapedrense's Hristo Stoichkov was substituted for Eloi Fontanella. 64 minutes into the match, Athletico Picapedrense's Hristo Stoichkov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. It was a well-played corner which Cristo Uria managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Athletico Picapedrense were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Juanito Gabucio took the corner. Hristo Stoichkov was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 97 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Hristo Stoichkov came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
