The crowd rose to their feet as Omar Maju kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 3-0 in the 46 minute of play. Capdevilla made a substitution. Carolo Christobal replaced Filomeno Hitz. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Miguel Diagur might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Diagur ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Diagur in the 73rd minute of play. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
