An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Alvarez in the 14th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Helder Jares hit a great ball. Cafu Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 17th minute of the match. In the 19thth minute of the game Axel Montenegro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Cafu Negri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 20th minute, Axel Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cafu Negri was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Orlando Tafalla got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Lukasz Klucznik stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Lukasz Klucznik tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Colombia's Kevin Mastache quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Lukasz Klucznik, made in the 25th minute of the game. Abram Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Negri having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Sarmiento came free, but Cafu Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute Agustín Alvarez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Montenegro in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cafu Negri saved PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Axel Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colombia's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cafu Negri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 39 minutes into the game, Axel Montenegro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Cafu Negri was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Zalayeta in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Agustín Alvarez made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Colombia getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Santino Seco hit a great ball. 51 minutes into the game, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Agustín Alvarez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Manzanares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 62 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalkeeper Cafu Negri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abram Sarmiento. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Alvarez in the 65th minute of play. If Pascual Carballar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Colombia made a substitution. In the 71st minute, Millrick Portanares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 5-2 when Rogelio Cosca sped through Colombia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedro Manzanares.
