Pastor Valery took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pastor Valery. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. 8 minutes into the match, Capdevilla's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Pastor Valery reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pastor Valery showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Pastor Valery stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Felix Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Omar Maju took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Daniel Zorita scored 1-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pastor Valery, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Pastor Valery showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Miguel Diagur's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Diagur in the 42nd minute of play. Pastor Valery made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 44th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 52 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. After a rather tough play, Capdevilla's Albano Francho got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Omar Maju managed to get in a good position for a shot. Capdevilla's supporters rose to their feet, but Omar Maju was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Valery saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the game, Miguel Diagur cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 68th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. A collision led to Capdevilla getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Omar Maju hit a great ball. Capdevilla's Pastor Valery played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 72nd minute of play. After 74 played minutes Capdevilla got a freekick which was hit by Hernan Erauso. Pastor Valery made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 74th minute. Pastor Valery made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Capdevilla's Pastor Valery proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Capdevilla from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 82nd minute, which Pastor Valery however easily saved by the left post. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Diagur, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Capdevilla's Pastor Valery played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute of play. Miguel Diagur's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pastor Valery having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Diagur, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. The supporters of Capdevilla booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Capdevilla were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
