Ludomir Sala had in the 5thth minute some difficulties stopping Edmundo Espiga's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. If Edmundo Espiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ludomir Sala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Edmundo Espiga hit a great ball. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marc Lundgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 27th minute of play forced Mellanström's goalkeeper Ludomir Sala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ludomir Sala stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmundo Espiga's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. In the 41st minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ludomir Sala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mellanström's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edmundo Espiga was slow to take the kick. During this time Honduras's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Honduras's Moises Tafalla to a score. 0-1 in the 43rd minute. If Henrik Gadd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ludomir Sala made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 52nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 53rd minute of play forced Mellanström's goalkeeper Ludomir Sala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Honduras defense, Marc Lundgren kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lautaro Navarro. The Honduras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lautaro Navarro should have stopped the shot. Per-Olof Isaksson made in the 68th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Henrik Gadd however managed to control. After 71 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mellanström! The goalkeeper, Ludomir Sala, was totally fooled by Honduras's Edmundo Espiga, who 72 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Moises Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Ludomir Sala didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. Moises Tafalla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ludomir Sala read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Christian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lautaro Navarro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Henrik Gadd's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. After 96 minutes, Giovani Arantes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mellanström and the Honduras players grew even worse after the yellow card. Giovani Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Oskars Rebec's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oskars Rebec helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Mellanström's Oskars Rebec got a free kick in the 97th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga tried to score from far away in the 98th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The Honduras players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Mellanström from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
